Earlier today, I met the ladies of Shonen Knife. Our first meeting, despite being part of the same record company. These oneesama are even shorter and cuter than they seem on videotape. These Yamato nadeshiko shorties stand alongside the rough guys of the world of live music, captivating Mr. Matsumoto and teaching him the definition of “being impressed” all over again. We’re done putting the computer graphics and doing the last round of checks, meaning file2 is in the can. Is it good enough…? None of the other members have even laid eyes on the thing. The video covers Chiba Marine Stadium, and includes Sendai and Yoyogi up until the 19th, and from there you can join it up with file1 on 10/20, where we’ve made it so that you can loop the two videos. The amount of footage we had to edit was monstrous, forreal, and Director GOT (don’t confuse him with GOTOH THE 3rd) finally returned to his home a few days ago… How long has it been? Chirolyn’s habit of saying “I wanna go hooooooome” is actually in the footage a bunch of times, but as we were editing it it was GOT who kept saying “It’s me who wants to go hoooooome!” ,,Those words must have echoed through the studio a nearly endless number of times. So, like that, file2 was completed, and it’ll have DIE-chan’s medical fracture fairy tale, launched all over the place, ina’s nightlife work, hide in flames, patp going so far as to dance, joe breaking, kiyoshiK departing on line 2, chirolyn’s pop singing, and other moments that are lightyears removed from rock concerts, raining down on the viewer. Even I, who put all this together, am looking forward to seeing it,,,, well, I hesitate to go as far as to say that, but,. It’s not like, I could really put an end to PSYENCE A GO GO without releasing this thing,, That’s all she wrote!

I’m currently plugging away at the computer graphic layers for UGLY PINK MACHINE file2 on my desktop computer. The contents of file1 more or less cover footage from the live on Thursday, 10/20, so it’s like 80% COOL, 20% Funny at this point, and file2 is the exact inverse of that,,, But well, without this part, it would be impossible to explain the full thrills experienced during the psyence a gogo tour, is what I thought and why I made it that way, but,,, now that I’m really paying attention to all these people rushing around,,, it’s like, what’s wrong with all of these people?? It’s much better if you make sure to watch file2 and file1 jointly, so please do that. The art on the jacket this time is from TREES OF LIFE once again. They did the COOL PUNKIN’TOSH’s full computer graphics work for us. Really, in the beginning I was thinking of going with the title “Welcome to Fuckin’tosh,” but just in case, we asked that one “red fruit” company ahead of time, and they said,, “please don’t,” so the current title was what we settled on, and now I’ve started thinking that I like it better this way after all so maybe it’s fine, but for me personally I only ever meant to express my pure feelings of love and respect, but my sensibilities and fashion sense weren’t understood by the “red fruit” company. That said, it’s just my startup screen, but I’ve set up my computer to sneakily display the word’s “Welcome fuckin’tosh” at me.

Just now, I got a call from Yocchan. We talked a little about this year’s strategy,,, and his concern for Pata’s drinking is seriously funny. “When I was touring, I was going pretty hard all the time, don’cha think it’s normal?” That’s what I thought, but he was hung up on whether or not Pata’s gotten too thin. Yocchan’s pretty energetic as always, training hard as always, and working in the studio endlessly. ,,,The “work” he’s doing right now will reach all of you soon, I think, so look forward to it. It goes without saying, I’m talking about Xjapan. The end of this month, it looks like Hea-chan will go back to Japan for solo and single production & to continue producing his album. The magazine “Mac People” is featuring Hea-chan, and, thanks to him inviting me, I’ll also be participating in it. ,,Deadlines are scary things. As you all well know, Toshi-kun is kicking one through the goalposts, in the middle of his solo tour. Having watched him doing television commentary shows, his normally petite form has spun into something huge in front of my eyes. Congratulations. Changing the subject, it’s been a minute since the video for PSYENCE A GOGO, UGLY PINK MACHINE file 1 was released, but, and I think there are some of you out there who know about this already, we’ll be including two extra songs as a special promo for the Laserdisc version. I had been a little resistant to release an LD, with this technology destined to go the way of the dinosaur, and I even went as far as to say that this is the last LD we’ll put out, so I forced the issue of including these extras as a promotional tactic, and that’s why it’s being released this way. ,,,,But, I got emails from a surprising number of people saying, “I really want the music videos, so I’m thinking of going out and buying a LD player.” I had no idea people would go so far for something so not worth it. I underestimated you all. I don’t know if my playing around will be satisfactory for you, but anyway it was decided a while ago that, regarding the music videos, my director, “TASTE MASTER GOTOH THE3rd” had declared “I will release a music video collected works!” So to all you who are thinking of getting a LD player just to watch the UGLY PINK MACHINE LD, please rethink this course of action. We will definitely be releasing the music video collection on VHS. To those for whom this message came too late,,,,,,, I’m sorry,,, But the cover jacket will also be LD size, and it’ll be overwhelmingly COOL, so please enjoy it. You can get out-of-print LDs really cheaply used, the video quality is really good, so please watch lots of LDs. Well, then, having said that, I’ll leave things there,,,

What is the world coming to? You think there’s nothing more unpleasant than a fax machine, but if you search the world over, you’ll find MEGACOOOOL weirdos who stare lovingly at something like “PINK MACHINE.” Today’s one of those days where,,, I’m gonna create something, putting my whole heart in it,,, methinks. Both this month and next month, there’s “UGLY PINK MACHINE” and 1128, so please look forward to them.
